Ramsbottom Upholstery - Master Craftsman Upholsterer in Ramsbottom, Bury

Over 40 Years of Uncompromising Craftsmanship

Edith Street, Ramsbottom

Every piece of furniture tells a story. A favourite armchair passed down through the family. A vintage settee found at auction. A tired pub bench that's seen better days. Whether it needs a full reupholster or a simple upholstery repair, it deserves to be done right.

With over 40 years at the bench, I bring the same care to every project, whether it's a delicate Victorian restoration or a full commercial refit. A master upholsterer serving Lancashire and Greater Manchester, one project at a time, working from my workshop in the heart of Ramsbottom.

What My Clients Say

"K&M Ashworth Interiors have used Ramsbottom Upholstery for many years, with many extremely satisfied clients. Their knowledge and experience is invaluable."
A Hepburn & S Spencer, Directors, K&M Ashworth Interiors
"I am absolutely delighted with the wonderful results after having two chaise longues and a footstool reupholstered. The speed of work, quality of workmanship, combined with friendly and professional level of service were second to none! I will most definitely use this fabulous company again and will have no hesitation in recommending them to all my family, friends and colleagues."
Christie Howarth, Edenfield
"I recently had a chaise longue refurbished by Tony. It was my Grandparents and so had sentimental value. I can remember playing on it as a child. I had little idea of the type of leather to use or what colour would be suitable. I was expertly guided by Tony with the end result being an old piece of furniture that looks good in a modern household."
Neville Jones, Stockport
"Our very battered but much loved 1970's corner suite looks incredible now. It feels like a brand new suite, whilst retaining its original retro style and finished to an exceptionally high standard. We could not be happier with the end result. Antony is reliable, flexible and professional. We would highly recommend Ramsbottom Upholstery."
Gemma & Dorian, Haslingden
"Delighted with our newly re-covered chair and stool. It looks great and are amazed with the quality of workmanship and impressed with the prompt and efficient service. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ramsbottom Upholstery for any further future upholstery requirements."

"Such a professional company. Over the moon with my re-upholstered settee, chair and footstool. They even helped remove my window, to gain access. I would not hesitate whatsoever, in recommending Ramsbottom Upholstery."
Anne, Bolton
"Ramsbottom Upholstery transformed a tired old sofa bed into an elegant couch in deep purple velvet. It looks spectacular and the workmanship is superb."

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to reupholster a sofa?

Every piece is different, so costs depend on the size of the furniture, the condition of the frame and springs, and the fabric or leather you choose. As a rough guide, a two-seater sofa typically starts from around £800 for labour, with fabric on top. I'm always happy to take a look and give you an honest quote with no obligation.

Is it worth reupholstering or should I buy new?

In many cases, reupholstering is absolutely worth it. Older furniture often has better frames and construction than modern mass-produced alternatives. Reupholstery also lets you choose exactly the fabric you want, keep a piece with sentimental value, and is far better for the environment than sending furniture to landfill. Over 22 million pieces of furniture are discarded in the UK each year.

How long does reupholstery take?

Most projects take between 2 and 6 weeks depending on the complexity of the work and the availability of your chosen fabric. I'll give you a realistic timeline when we discuss your project and keep you updated throughout.

Can you reupholster a leather sofa with fabric?

Yes, absolutely. Switching from leather to fabric (or vice versa) is very common. I'll advise on the best materials for your situation and make sure the finished piece looks and feels right.

Do you collect and deliver furniture?

Yes. For larger items like sofas and settees, I can arrange collection from and delivery to your home across Ramsbottom, Bury, Bolton, Rochdale, Rossendale and the wider Greater Manchester area.
